Kelady creates a contemporary medley of mortality themes covering the Filipino soft rock band Cinderella’s song “Bato Sa Buhangin” from 1976 (translated to Stone in the Sand) and Sade’s “Lovers Rock” (2000) –a Tagalog and English combination that generates new meaning; the medley informs a position that brings listeners to a more grounded and intimate place. A soulful rendition, Kelady’s cover is an ode to Manila Sound/OPM (Original Pilipino Music) and Pop music. Kelady book-ends her debut album BABAE with Bato Sa Buhangin / Lovers Rock as an outro that’s both nostalgic and refreshing.
